The Lair of the White Wyrm
Details of Event:
“Be the wyrm I tell ya!” Hagar spit into the fire. “Wha’cha thinks ben steal’n da cattle? Tieves? Tieves leave tracks. Wolves? Dey don’t take da bones.” He stared at his two friends daring them to challenge him as he took a long haul from his tankard.
“Bah! Ya drunk a’gain Hagar. Best go get y’ur dames pleat.” Rufus patted his irritated friend on the back; his laughter adding to the din of the crowded tavern.
“Damn ya fools!!” Hagar’s face reddened, “I tell ya the wyrm be back! Mark me…” his words froze in his throat as the booming roar sliced through the noise within the tavern. As the sound died the only noise remaining was the sounds of their own breathing and the crackle of the fire in the hearth.
The tavern’s patrons all looked at one another a myriad of emotions upon their faces as the seconds passed, nothing, nervous whispers began to fill the room and a dog whimpered near the fire. Another thunderous roar pierced the night and a large thing slammed in to the tavern shaking dust loose from the overhead beams and cracking the plaster walls. The earlier cries of merriment were replaced by shrieks of fear as everyone ran for safety. A large object slammed in to the tavern shaking dust loose from the beams and cracking the plaster on the walls.
Hagar looked at his friends their faces white with fear both still clutching their tankards as though they would afford them some measure of protection. Another blow rocked the tavern splintering wood and a distant wall collapsed. As the cold winter air blew into the room Hagar made silent prayer to the All Father as he new he wouldn’t see the morning.
